Mrs. Moore and her husband farmed in the Richland area from 1930 to 1973, and then farmed in the Michigan Valley area from 1973 to 1987. She was born May 19, 1911, in Geuda Springs, the daughter of Wesley B. and Ola Briggs Sawyer. She attended Rossville schools and was graduated from Rossville High School in 1925. Mrs. Moore was a member of Michigan Valley United Methodist Church, a former member of the Twin Mound Grange and the Busy Bee Club at Lickskillet. She conducted oil painting classes for several years and she was a contributing poet to the Kansas supplement to the Capital-Journal. She married Henry Kellem Moore on Dec. 5, 1928, in Topeka. He died Feb. 4, 1987. Survivors include a son, James Moore, Overbrook; a daughter, Betty Chandler, Ottawa; a sister, Hazel Larsen, Vancouver, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the United methodist Church at Overbrook. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery west of Richland. Mrs. Moore will lie in state from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Greenwood-Roberts Funeral Home in Overbrook where relatives and friends will meet from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Moore will lie in state after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. memorial contributions may be made either to Michigan Valley United Methodist Church or to Midland Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home. Contributions to the church may be sent in care of the First Security Bank, Overbrook, 66524.
