Description	:	written by Mary Elizabeth (Wheeless) Sexton: My mother, Minnie Prideg, was born November 15, 1887 in her parent's home near Delhi, Iowa. All the children were delived by their mother without a doctor. Minnie died September 25, 1978 at St. Luke's Hospital Cedar Rapids, Iowa in Linn county at 90 years of age. She and my father are buried in the Hopkinton ,Iowa Cemetery. Minnie attended the near by Rocky Nook country school and later Hopkinton High School. Mother and her sister Louise, as the yougest, did not have to work as hard as the others on the farm. She and Louise roamed the hills and woods and from George learned the names of the trees and plants. They helped him hunt ginseng to sell. Mother always loved the out of doors. She liked to get her hands in the soil. She was not afraid of bugs or snakes. They lived a good life and worked hard on the farm. Their food was plain and nutritious. They had wine for special occasions which was watered down for the chldren. Grandma Prideg had all her recipes in her head not being able to read. On May 1, 1907 Minnie Prideg was married to Frank Marion Wheeless at Hopkinton, Iowa by the Methodist minister. Mother said they had two inches of snow the night before they were married. In the early 1930's my mother co-owned "The City Bakery" in Hopkinton with her sister-in-law. How good it smelled in the bakery when I came from school to the bakery for lunch. Mother was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of their church. Mother was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and was also a Past Matron. 3 children: Dale Wheeless Mary Elizabeth (Wheeless) Sexton Donald Wheeless
