Description	:	Minnie W. Brazie, daughter of Sara and Peter Longcor, was born August 27, 1867 at Bowman's Grove before the town of Harlan was established and departed this life January 14, 1954 at the age of 86 years. When she was five years old the family moved to the town of Harlan where she attended public schools. She later attended a Teacher's Institute in Des Moines returning to teach first at Cuppy's Grove and then later in Harlan during the late 1880's and early 1890's. Brazie, daughter of Sara and Peter Longcor, was born August 27, 1867 at Bowman's Grove before the town of Harlan was established and departed this life January 14, 1954 at the age of 86 years. When she was five years old the family moved to the town of Harlan where she attended public schools. She later attended a Teacher's Institute in Des Moines returning to teach first at Cuppy's Grove and then later in Harlan during the late 1880's and early 1890's. She was united in marriage February 16, 1892 to Jay V. Brazie. To this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy. The family moved to Nebraska were Mr Brazie was engaged in the real estate business. He died February 23, 1902 at which time Mrs Brazie moved with her children back to Harlan to live with her mother, but her mother died the following May of 1902 and she was left to rear five children. Mrs Brazie started teaching first grade again in 1906 and continued in this profession until she took the position as first librarian in the then new building, a position which she held for twenty-four years, retiring in 1945. Since that time she lived with her children until she moved to the Memorial Home. She was a member of the P.E.O., the Congregational Church and the Rebekah lodge. Two of her children, Lois and Jay Van Jr., preceded her in death. She leaves her children: Mrs Dorothy Thomas of Filer, Idaho; Donald Brazie of Salem, Oregon; and Dr. Walter Brazie of Kingman, Arizona. In addition to these there are 17 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Pauley's funeral home with the Rev. E.J. Arnold in charge. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery. Harlan Tribune Harlan, Iowa January 22, 1954
