Read More	~~~~~~~ Minos Leighton Williams January 31, 1809 – August 22, 1899 ~~~~ Minos L. Williams was born in Scott County, Kentucky, Jan. 31, 1809, and died at Hubbell, August 22, 1899, aged 90 years 6 months and 21 days. His mother dying when he was 15 months old he grew to manhood without a mother's care. In his younger manhood he clerked in a Cincinnati store; later he spent some four or five years in Indiana. About the year 1837 he went to Adams county Ills., where, in 1839 he was married to Mary Fee. In 1843 he, with his wife and three children, settled in Lewis County, Mo. There he accumulated a considerable of this world's goods between that date and the commencement of the civil war. That was the cause of his financial ruin, from which he never only partially recovered. He was an abolitionist and advocated that doctrine in a slave state, for which the slave holders hated him. In 1863 he came to Kansas, settling in Atchison County where he remained until 1872, when he homesteaded in Republic County. Since that time he has lived on the farm near Hubbell or with his children, since he became too feeble to do for himself. In religion he was a Universalist, believing that somewhere and somehow final good would come to all. He leaves the feeble, aged wife and seven living children to mourn. His oldest son, Cardinal, who served 5 years in the war, passed on one month before his father to that other world. Short funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Belville and the remains were then laid to rest in the Ida cemetery. ~~~~ The Times Hubbell, Nebraska August 25, 1899 ~~~~~~~~ Married Mary Elizabeth Fee November 24, 1839 in Quincy, Adams County, Illinois.
