Read More	Mitchell De Koster – March 3, 1921 – October 16, 1944 MITCHELL DE KOSTER DIES FROM INJURIES The death of Mitchell De Koster at Fort Crook Hospital, Omaha, in the late afternoon Monday, October 16, came as a great shock and disappointment to his relatives and friends. Mitchell was a victim of the train wreck at Missouri Valley September 28, 1944, but until Sunday and after a week of great anxiety, seemed to be well on his way to recovery. A new complication developed on Sunday, when the doctors in charge called his parents advising them to come at once. Hopes were held of his recovery until Monday afternoon when he died suddenly. Mitchell was born on March 3, 1921, graduated from Western Christian High School in Hull in 1938 and from Central College in 1942. He had almost completed the required work for a Master's degree at the University of Iowa, when he enlisted in the army and was called to duty March 10, 1942 and inducted at Camp Dodge. From there he served at Fort Warren, Wyoming, Iowa City Iowa and at the time of death belonged to 4104 Quarter Master Depot Company attached to the 4th Army, stationed at Camp Polk, LA. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery, Hull, on Friday, October 20, 1944 with Rev. H. Van't Kerhoff conducting the services. Mitchell was a communicant member of the first Ref. Church, Hull.
