He is a young man of education and fine promise, now on his first work. The bride is a pretty and popular young lady who has many friends. The Monroe Journal Monroe, NC Tuesday, May 10, 1910 Page 1 ---------- MOORESVILLE, Nov. 14.--Rev. Moffat Alexander Osborne, 69, a member of the Western North Carolina Methodist conference for 35 years, died suddenly of a heart attack at his home in the Shepherd community early today. He had been in failing health for the last year. Born in Union county, Mr. Osborne was a son of the late Alexander and Martha Stack Osborne. He attended Rutherford college and Trinity college (now Duke university) at Durham. Beginning his ministry approximately 40 years ago, Mr. Osborne served churches in Bakersville, Old Fort, Tayorsville, Epworth in Concord, Mt. Pleasant, Waxhaw, Prospect circuit, Glen Alpine, Rock Springs circuit, South Fork circuit and Statesville circuit, before coming to the Shepherd charge in the fall of 1945. Last fall, he assumed the retired supply pastorate of Jones Memorial church in Mooresville. He married Miss Fannie Griffin on May 5, 1910. The survivors, in addition to the widow, include three daughters, two sons, one brother, and three sisters. Six grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at Vanderburg Methodist church in the Shepherd community, conducted by Rev. J. H. Armhurst of Statesville, superintendent of the Statesville district, assisted by Rev. R. L. Phillips, pastor of the Vanderburg Methodist church, and Rev. Harold Robinson, pastor of the Central Methodist church in Mooresville. Burial will be in the Monroe cemetery at Monroe at 3 o'clock. The Charlotte Observer Charlotte, NC November 14, 1950
