At 2 o’clock Tuesday morning, October, 25, 1898, at her residence five miles northwest of Beattie. Mollie Bell Martin wife of F.E.Martin, aged 26 years and 4 months. Two little boys and one little girl are left motherless by her death, and a sad-hearted husband must care for them. The body was embalmed and taken to Nevada, Iowa, for burial. Something more than a year ago Mr. Martin came to Kansas and bought a home north of Mr. Hightower, with the expectation of benefitting his wife’s health, but that dread disease, consumption, had taken fast hold upon her and her days were numbered. The weeks and months went by and each day told its story all to surely. Amidst the storm of Tuesday morning her young life went out. Owing to the brief time from her death until time to go east, no religious services were held here, but at the old home in Iowa there will be. Mr. Martin desires to thank his kind neighbors and friends here for their care and kindness to his departed wife and to himself and family.
