Mason, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jacobe of Hawarden, passed away in a hospital at Wichita Falls, Texas, at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning from peritonitis which developed after her appendix had ruptured. Morgan and Mrs. Dave Mullenburg of Hawarden, reached her bedside at 8:30 Christmas night following a straight 32-hour drive from Hawarden and remained with her constantly until the end. Word was received here of her critical illness last Thursday morning and shortly after noon Mrs. Morgan and Mrs. Mullenburg, with Philip Schiefen as driver, departed for Wichita Falls, a distance of nearly 900 miles, and made no stops other than for food and gasoline until they reached their destination. The remains are to be brought to Hawarden for burial following a short service at Wichita Falls Wednesday afternoon, and will reach here by train Friday morning, accompanied by Mr. Mason. Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Mullenburg and Philip Schiefen will drive back to Hawarden. Funeral services will be held at the Associated church in this city Sunday afternoon, with Rev. R.J. Cornell, the pastor, in charge. Interment will be made in Grace Hill cemetery. Mollie Jacobe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jacobe, was one of eight children in the family and the first to be called by death. She was born in Hawarden Dec. 2, 1888, so was just a few weeks past 48 years of age at the time of her death. She grew to young womanhood in this city, attending the Hawarden public schools. After leaving school she was employed for about ten years as chief operator in the Hawarden telephone office. In 1910 she went to Denver, Colo., where she attended business college and following the completion of the business course was employed in Denver for five or six years and later she lived in Casper, Wyo., and Wichita Falls, Texas. She was united in marriage eight years ago with Floyd F. Mason and they have since made their home in Wichita Falls. Besides her husband, she is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jacobe of Hawarden; five sisters, Mrs. D.M. Morgan, Mrs. C.A. Wilkison, Mrs. Clarence Dunham and Mrs. Dave Mullenburg of Hawarden, and Mrs. Fred Fogel of Sioux City. She also leaves a host of old time friends in Hawarden who sincerely mourn her untimely death and extend deepest sympathy to the members of her family. The Independent (Hawarden, Iowa) 12/31/1931
