Mollie Reiber, who died Sunday at the Adams County Memorial hospital had been crippled by an acute form of arthritis since she was 12 years old. She lived for 46 years in a chair. Often friends visited her residence on Fifth Avenue with the thought of comforting her. Instead, the came away comforted themselves. Mollie Reiber's greatest happiness in life seemed to be the happiness of her friends. Born in Kolb, Russia on May 25, 1894, Mollie was six years old when her family migrated to Ritzville. They lived on a farm. Often Mollie walked the three miles to school when her father was unable to take her in a wagon. At the age of 12 the young girl was stricken with a serious illness. Some time passed before it was correctly diagnosed as an acute form of arthritis. After that, Mollie was never able to walk again. Her hands, to were crippled. The Reibers purchased a home in Ritzville where Mollie lived. She not only kept the home immaculate, but supportd herself for may years by dress making. Her sewing and her tatting and crocheting, also attained a rare peak of perfection and beauty. None of Mollie's acquaintances ever heard her complain of her affliction. She always seemed cheerful - even during her later years when increasing pain wracked her body. She was alert and extremely interested in community affairs. Her house was often filled with bouquets brought to her by children of the neighborhood. About four years ago her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Reiber moved in from the country to join her in the Ritzville home. She was a member of the Philadelphia Congregational church. The Rev. R. Kirchenmann was to preside over the funeral services in the Danekas and Duncan funeral home chapel. Burial was in the Ritzville Memorial cemetery. Survivors include her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Donald Danekas of Ritzville and Mrs. Helen Dirks of Ventura, California; three brothers, Carl of Ritzville, Alex of Myrtle Creek, Oregon and Arthur of Los Angeles; six nieces and four nephews.
