Born July 5, 1929, in New Marshfield, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Edna Bobo Smith. A 1947 graduate of Waterloo High School, she was employed at the Towne House Restaurant and retired from the Athens Mental Health Center. She was a member of the Church of Christ in New Marshfield, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9893 Albany and White Swan Council No. 5, Degree of Pocahontas. Born July 5, 1929, in New Marshfield, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Edna Bobo Smith. A 1947 graduate of Waterloo High School, she was employed at the Towne House Restaurant and retired from the Athens Mental Health Center. She was a member of the Church of Christ in New Marshfield, Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 9893 Albany and White Swan Council No. 5, Degree of Pocahontas. She enjoyed playing Bingo and Euchre, and in her younger days, cooking for her family. Mona is survived by her sons, Pete (Kim) Russell, Bruce (Faith Burchfield) Russell, Gary "Enos" (Angel) Russell and Terry "Mouse" Russell all of New Marshfield; a daughter-in-law, Gina Russell of Austin, Texas; 16 grandchildren, Cory (Candy), Richard Paul (Jacie), Shane (Selena), Tim (Mendy), Angie (Steven), Rebecca, Crystal (Paul), Amber (Roger), Mandy (Dave), Marla (Brian), Shawn, Benjie (Shelly), Chelsey, Jason (Christina), Ethan (Samantha), and Eli (Jessica); 37 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, June Langston of Shreveport, La.; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul E. Russell (whom she married July 5, 1947); a daughter, Pamela Chaffin; a son, Minister Vernon Russell; grandson, David M. Holmes, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Christopher Grant, Steele Irwin and Ashley Lowry; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Darrell and Debbie Smith and Charles and Freda Smith; and a brother-in-law, William Langston. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, 11 a.m. at Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens with Buford Brown officiating. Burial will be in New Marshfield Cemetery.
