Interment will be in the Bainville Cemetery, Bainville, Mont., under the direction of the Fulkerson Funeral Home of Sidney. Monica Jeanne Scott was born on May 31, 1933, although we celebrated her birthday on June 1. Jean's amazing qualities stem directly from her humble beginning. Jean was raised by her grandfather Harry Dale Scott and grandmother Grace (Smithwick) Scott. She grew up in the Fort Buford area and later attended school in Bainville. Jean married her high school sweetheart, Ronald K. Torgerson on Jan. 14, 1952; they had 61 years together. They lived in several Eastern Montana towns but eventually settled in Sidney. Jean taught her four children wonderful values. From her, we learned unconditional love and the gift of forgiveness. She instilled in her children numerous biblical principles from which we realized the foundation of her wisdom later in life as we each accepted Christ as our Savior. Jean valued family and friends. She loved cooking, baking, company and reading. Her nickname during holidays was "food pusher." She was close with her three sisters-in-law, Laurel (Gary) Torgerson, Margie (Norman) Torgerson and Audrey (Bob) Torgerson. They were often found pulling pranks or jokes on the four Torgerson brothers and they laughed often. Jean has three sisters, Dianna Briske, Carole (Larry) Arpin, Denise (Bryce) Romo, and a brother, Doug (Mavis) Sala. Jean treasured her bake days and jelly-making times with her sisters Dianna and Denise. Jean enjoyed traveling and did many trips with her sisters. Ron and Jean had delightful times with their travel buddies Paula and Butch Warren. Jean also traveled around Europe with her daughter Tammy, and Australia with daughter Sandy. She enjoyed numerous trips with her boys and their wives, Rod (Marci), Gordon (Yvonne), and husband, Ron. Jean loved babies, particularly her 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren but she had lots of room in her heart for all of her nieces, nephews and grandchildren's friends. Jean Torgerson passed away in the Country House in Dickinson N.D., on March 23, 2013. Jean is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Rod (Marci), Sandy (Tom Picken), Gordon (Yvonne), Tammy (Doug Galipeau); grandchildren; great-grandchildren; four siblings; several in-laws; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jean was preceded in death by her mother, Thelma (Scott) Sala; grandfather Harry Dale Scott; grandmother Grace (Smithwick) Scott;and brother-in-law, Larry Briske. Her family would like to extend deep gratitude to the Country House Staff and Hospice in Dickinson. Thank you for caring and loving our mom.
