Monica Kautzman was born Aug. 1, 1923, in Solen, N.D., the daughter of Raphael and Antonia (Schantz) Kautzman. She was raised and educated in Solen, graduating from Solen High School. Monica married Emanuel Dirk on April 24, 1954, at Cathedral of the Holy Spirit in Bismarck. She was employed with Dakota National Bank from 1945 to 1952. In 1952, Monica worked for the North Dakota Highway Department and retired in July 1998. Monica was very active in the Eagles Club for 40 years, serving as past president. She is survived by her husband, Emanuel, Bismarck; one sister-in-law, Betty Kautzman, Kent, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Jacob, Ralph, Tony and two as infants. (Boelter-Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck)
