At the age of 6 months, she was moved to Kansas City MO and was raised by Elmer and Nell Hickson until the age of 13yrs. There was about a years time when she went to live with her mother Ruth in Tulsa Oklahoma when she was 5 years old. Monna attended Westport High School in Kansas City Missouri where she met her first husband George Medill FennerJr. They married young. She later found work at Pratt and Whitney in Kansas City. Eventually, they moved to California and George went to work for Monna's uncle J.D. O'Cain. George worked as a lathe operator. After WWII broke out George joined the Coast Guard. Monna then worked in New London Connecticut for the Electric Boat Company. She painted welds on submarines. Her friend Helen (?) and she were the first two women to work for the company. She remembered a time that she was held by the ankles to paint welds in a torpedo tube. She was the only one who could fit in the tube. After the war and after she and George were divorced she married Frank Kozlowski. She and Frank were part of the fitness revolution arising from the area and the era of Muscle Beach in Santa Monica, Calif. They made many friends and maintained those friendships throughout life. With Frank, she had her 3rd and last child, Frank Craig Kozlowski. Other places Monna worked were at Ramo Woolridge and Litton Industries as an executive secretary. Her third marriage was to Gil who owned a Gas Station in Santa Monica. The two bought a home in Canoga Park CA in the San Fernando Valley. Her 4th Marriage was to Larry Ostrow who she married in the 60's and remained married to until the time of her passing, They lived in their home in Monterey CA. . . . . .
