Private family services were held at the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home in McVille, ND. Interment will be in the spring at the Binford Cemetery. Monroe was born January 20, 1922, in Binford, the son of Gilbert and Ellen (Jacobson) Gilbertson. He grew up and attended rural school in the Binford area. Private family services were held at the Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home in McVille, ND. Interment will be in the spring at the Binford Cemetery. Monroe was born January 20, 1922, in Binford, the son of Gilbert and Ellen (Jacobson) Gilbertson. He grew up and attended rural school in the Binford area. For a brief period Monroe worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps. On November 26, 1943, he married Pearl Torgerson in Valley City, ND. After their marriage they lived and farmed in Willow Township, rural Binford, and later moved to a farm northwest of Binford in Rosendal Township. Monroe was busy with the farm but he also found time to do some trucking and worked as an auctioneer. Monroe semi-retired in 1976 and a short time later they operated Traders Corner in Binford for eight summers. They spent 26 winters in Mesa, AZ. Monroe was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Binford. In 1999 Monroe became a resident of the Central Dakota Nursing Home in Jamestown, ND. Monroe is survived by his wife, Pearl, Binford; son, Thomas (Karen) Binford; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Buckman, Colorado Springs, CO. Monroe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gotfred; and a sister Esther Kile. Stanley-Iverson Funeral Home McVille, ND.
