Description	:	EDEN Monte R. Cox, 73, of 218 Liveoak Drive S.W., Sunset Beach, and formerly of Clifton Street, Eden, passed away at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center in Wilmington. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the First Church of the Brethren, Eden with burial to follow in Ridgeview Memorial Gardens. A memorial service will also be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004 at the New Vision Church of the Carolinas in Calabash with visitation to follow at the church. Mr. Cox was born May 4, 1931 in Spray (now Eden) to the late William A. and Addie Bowers Cox. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and served his country during the Korean conflict. He was retired from E.I. DuPont Co. in Martinsville, Va. He was a member of the First Church of the Brethren for over 50 years where he was a member of the choir and also a member of the Loyal Sons and Daughters Sunday School Class. He served the church in many ways. The last three years, he helped organize a new church plant of the church of the Brethren, the New Vision Church of the Carolinas in Sunset Beach. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Frances H. Cox of Sunset Beach; daughters, Beth West and husband, Stephen of North Myrtle Beach, S.C., Amy Grogan and husband, Mark of Little River, S.C.; one son, Bobby Cox and wife, Pamela of Eden; four grandchildren, Holly Wheless and Andrew West of North Myrtle Beach, Heather West of Cary and Courtney Grogan of Little River, S.C.; two great-grandchildren, Megan Ann and Abigail Wheless of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
