BERN- MORRIS HARTUNG Morris Hartung, who lived north of Bern for a number of years, passed away at his home in DuBois Saturday afternoon, after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Hartung had been in poor health for several years and the immediate cause of death was a third attack of pneumonia. Mr. Hartung was born in Germany and came to this country at the age of 14 years, having lost both parents. He made his home with a sister who had preceded him to America and later came to the Fred Luthy home on Lower Four Mile where he made his home. In 1901 he was married to Miss Minnie Fankhauser, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Fankhauser. They lived on a farm in the Lower Four Mile neighborhood where their five children were born. Twenty-five years ago they moved to DuBois where Mr. Hartung followed his profession of Carpentry which he did extensively even while living on his farm. Mr.Hartung is survived by his wife, three sons, Fred, Charles and John and two daughters, Mrs. Marie Kreuger, wife of Rev. Otto Krueger of Alma, Kansas and Miss Louise Hartung of the home. Funeral services were held at the Salem Reformed Church, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Eagleman and interment was in the church cemetery.
