Description	:	My Mother, Ardis Lorraine Corwin was born in a 2 room house on the corner of Berkeley and Soboba Streets in Hemet, CA on Nov 13, 1914. She went to Little Lake School and graduated from Hemet High. Her whole social life as a girl centered around the Pilgrim Congregational Church and she was an active member for all of her life. She went to Little Lake School and graduated from Hemet High. Her whole social life as a girl centered around the Pilgrim Congregational Church and she was an active member for all of her life. Her parents owned an apricot and walnut ranch. She was teasingly called "Tilly the Apricot Queen" as a little girl. She attended Riverside City College and then married Willard Stanley Councilman. They were married for 70 years when she died. She had two daughters, Sandra and Jane, 6 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and was a wonderful mother and wife. She was loved by her family and friends. She was very active in her home community of Hemet California. She was the first President of the Hemet Jr Womens club. She was a charter member of the AS Chapter of PEO and held many offices including President more than once. She was very active in Valley Beautiful and Save our Station. Willard was business manager of the Ramona Pageant for over 10 years and Ardis was always by his side, entertaining celebrities such as Victor Jory and his wife Jean Ennes, Marjory Lord, and Raquel Welch and many other dignitaries from the Hemet Valley. They also owned a furniture store and floor covering business in the Valley for many years. Mrs Councilman leaves a deep void in the Valley she loved so much. ~~Jane Councilman Weaver
