Eliza Johnston, a native of Boone county, Iowa, was born February 28, 1852, and lived practically all her life in this county. She was married to A. S. Braman, August 5, 1878. To this union were born two daughters, Edith Graham and Estella Hartman of Des Moines. Later in life, she was married to Richard Peel, February 22, 1884. There were four children, three sons and one daughter, Wallace A., George, who died in infancy, Mary Warden, of Oklahoma City and Chester, who passed away, March 26, 1916, at the age of 18 years. There are 12 living grandchildren. When eighteen years old, she united with the Methodist church at Centerville, Iowa, and held to this faith to the end. She was always cheerful and had many friends. She was loved by all who knew her. Her last reading was the 23rd Psalms. She had been in poor health for several years, but was unusually bright the day preceding her death, which came Saturday morning at 4 o'clock, October 14th. Funeral services were held at the home of Samuel Graham, 710 Marion St., at 1 o'clock, the Rev. Goodrich, pastor of the Marion St. Methodist church, having charge. The pallbearers were, Messrs. M. W. Griffee, James Herrman, Wm. Ades, J. B. Eddy, H. C. Sayre and Duncan Grant. Interment was made in Bluff Creek Cemetery. We are not sure where Elizabeth and Richard's son, George (B. 1888 and died in infancy) is buried. The beautiful lady who is pictured in the bottom picture with the comb in her hair is not Elizabeth Peel but another family member, Miriam H. Lee Warden, memorial # 16610324. The cousin that created this memorial accidently added the photo and as he has now passed, it is in my hands. Since, I did not post it, Find A Grave will not let me go in and remove it. The other picture is of indeed of Aunt Elizabeth Peel. _____________________________________________________ Daughter of Andrew Johnston and Ellen Lamb. Married Richard Peel on February 22, 1886 in Boonesboro, Boone, Iowa.
