Funeral Services to Celebrate the Life of Vera Rorie Martin will be conducted at 2:30 PM Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Union Baptist Church, 4312 Old Pageland -Monroe Road, officiated by Reverend Tim Madaris. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, after the commital service the family will greet friends in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Martin was born on April 26, 1923, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late John Buxton Rorie and Gertrude Melton Rorie. She was preceded in death by a her husband Julius H. "Tom" Martin; her son, Murray Adams; three brothers, Ralph Rorie, John Rorie, Jr, and Harold Rorie; two sisters, Ruth Threatt and Willie Threatt; and a grandson, Jimmy Adams. Survivors include three sons, Norman Martin of Monroe, Aubrey Martin of Monroe and Gene Adams (Barbara) of Jefferson, SC; a daughter, Julie James (Charles) of Marshville; a brother, Heath Rorie of Pageland, SC; six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM Sunday, June 14, 2015, at Union Baptist Church, prior to the funeral ceremony.
