Read More	Cause:- Injuries to Neck and Abdomen Railway Collision Son of Floyd & Viola (Whynot) Arenburg 1943 Bridgewater Bulletin Fireman Murray Gordon Arenburg, 23, Fairview and formerly of New Germany died yesterday afternoon, December 17, shortly after a string of railways car ran into the side of an engine, hurling him to the tracks. The accident occurred about 2:30 o'clock at Rockingham. Taken to Victoria General Hospital he died within an hour. Shortly before the accident, his father, Floyd Arenburg, New Germany, had seen his son and expressed hopes he would be home for Christmas. Smashed completely was the cab of the engine in which the fatality occurred. The string of cars struck the side of the engine on which Arenburg, as fireman, was working and demolished it, throwing him to the tracks. Attempts to save his life at the Victoria General Hospital were unsuccessful. The engine belonging to Candian National Railways is being taken to repair yards. Murray Bordon Arenburg was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Arenburg, New Germany. He had moved to Fairview two years ago when he took up work with the Canadian National Railways as fireman and had boarded for those two years with Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Cooke. A graduate of North Rosedale School, he was a member of the United Church. H is father had been in the city just shortly before the accident on business and calling at Mrs. Cooke's house told his son that he hoped he would be home for the Christmas holiday. Besides his parents, Murray Arenburg is survived by one brother, Lorraine, at home and a sister, Marguerite, Mrs. Earle Feener, Pinehurst and two grandparents, Amos Arenburg and Mrs. Charles Whynot, both of New Germany. Funeral services were conducted on Monday afternoon, December 20, by Rev. W.H. Palmer, of the United Church, who delivered a comforting message from the text," Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." Hymns sung were "Rock of Ages," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," and " Abide With Me." Psalm 23 was read. The pall bearers were six of the firemen of the C.N.R., Messrs. J. Woodworth, S. Seamone, L. Copeland, E. Langille, R. Adams, D. Penny, all friends and associates of the deceased. Interment was made in Lakeside Cemetery.
