Read More	Wenatchee World - Mar 8, 2006 Myra Jo Lillengreen Gruenberg, 100 years old, an 88 year resident of Wenatchee, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Colonial Vista Care Center where she had lived for the past nine months. Myra was born at Creston, WA on February 22, 1906, to Andrew Reuben and Julia Mae Lillengreen. Myra and her family moved to Wenatchee where she completed her schooling and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1925. She married her high school sweetheart, George Gruenberg, on April 21, 1928. Myra was a wonderful homemaker, helped at the family service station, worked in the fruit industry, and worked on the family orchard. They were also Foster parents to three boys. The Central Christian Church (now Cornerstone Christian Church) was central to her life, and she was very active in many aspects of church life there. Myra received a 25-year award for her service to the American Cancer Society drive. Myra and George built a cabin in the 40s at Lake Chelan which has been such a blessing for the family ever since, who have made a fun family project out of it. Friends were always warmly welcomed to share in weekend enjoyment of the Lake with them. Myra had a wonderful 100th birthday celebration February 22, 2006, in the Colonial Vista dining room with her family and many friends, and she smiled and greeted them all. She took a nap after the party, glowing with warmth and love. Then she fell into a deep sleep. The next day, she opened her eyes wide and declared "I believe in God!" and then slipped back to sleep on eternally. Myra was a great spiritual strength to all of her family and many, many friends. Our sincere thanks to the caring nursing staff at Colonial Vista. Survivors include her two daughters, Arden M. Buchanan (Bert), Ann J. Koch (Jerry); grandsons, Dr. Ken Koch (Lucy), San Diego, Russ Koch, Seattle, Dr. Tom Koch (Tami), Wenatchee; great-grandchildren, Chris Koch, Kelsey Koch, Riley Koch, and Alex Koch. Other relatives are Bob and Sandy Gruenberg, Manson, Linda and Terry West, Wenatchee, Gene and Mary Lubking, East Wenatchee, Joel and Pat Lillengreen, Oregon, Kim and Claus Sass, Oregon, Vicki and Elmer Wilke, Colorado, Dan and Karen Lillengreen, Oregon; and Foster sons, George Camp, Seattle, and Jack and Phillip Hodge, Yakima. She was preceded in death by her husband, George on January 23, 1990. Betts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Viewing will be held Wednesday for family at 3 to 4 p.m. and for friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Services will be Thursday, March 9, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Christian Church, Wenatchee, Graveside Services immediately following at Wenatchee City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Cornerstone Christian Church or a charity of your choice.
