Interment was held in the Lennox Cemetery. Myrna Strasser was born to William and Catherine Strasser on a farm near Hurley, SD on Dec. 3, 1941. She grew up and attended school in this area, graduating from Lennox High School in 1959. She continued her education at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, later transferring to Sioux Falls College, graduating in 1963 with a BA in Speech and Drama as well as History. Myrna taught at Sioux Center, IA, Edison Middle School, Sioux Falls, Zion-Benton High School in Illinois, National American University, and Black Hawk College. Before teaching at Zion-Benton, she furthered her education at the University of South Dakota, earning a Master's degree in History in 1969. Myrna had a strong faith in Jesus Christ since her youth. With a special interest in Christian broadcasting, she pursued a FCC Radio Broadcasting License from Brown Institute in Minneapolis in 1981. She started her broadcasting career at KNWC in Sioux Falls, and later at Moody Bible Institute's WDLM station in East Moline, Illinois where she worked her way up to Senior Radio Announcer/Programmer. She worked as a Christian broadcaster for a total of 25 years, retiring in 2007. Believing that a "teaching drama" was a very effective way to share her message of Christ, she wrote and performed many dramas for Christian Women's Retreats, Christmas Teas, Banquets and Conferences all the way from Kentucky to Oregon. She also was an accomplished writer. Her historical fiction "Silent Night, Holy Night" was released in 2004 by Zondervan. She has written several Creative Bible Studies and a novel, "Karen, The Waitress, an Unlikely Proverbs Woman", as well as a cookbook for family favorites. Myrna enjoyed entertaining, collecting antiques and reading, particularly church history books. Her knowledge of Bible and church history made her an excellent Sunday School and Bible Studies teacher. Family was very important to Myrna. She made every one of them feel special and very loved. Preceding her in death was her father, William, who died in 1968, her mother, Catherine, who died in 1999 and her brother, Kerwin, who died in 1992, along with special friends who have gone before her. Left to cherish her memory are her three brothers and their spouses: Wendell and Karen Strasser of Lennox, Roger and Deb Strasser of Sioux Falls and David and Gail Strasser of Lennox, a sister-in-law: Rhoda Strasser of Lennox; eleven nieces and nephews and their spouses: Bryce and Marne Strasser, Brent and Monica Strasser, Karna and David Parker, Jill and W.D. Metheny, Jodi and Jeff Johnson, Lori and Jeff Poppinga, Julie and Reed Mattson, Cory and Jamie Strasser, Nathan and Michelle Strasser, Timothy and Katy Strasser and Micah Strasser; twenty-four great-nieces and nephews: J.P., Kezia, Tirzah, Jericho, Elasa, Justus, Jadon and Selah Poppinga; Jonna, Jori, Caden and Caiya Strasser; Ethan, Evan and Erik Metheny; Garrett and Grace Johnson; Mahli and Abbie Strasser; Emily Strasser; Alaina Parker; Austin and Tyler Strasser and Dakota Strasser, along with many friends both here and in the WDLM listening area.
