White, age 91, of Rapid City, SD, formerly of Lemmon, SD, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. all at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lemmon, SD. Fr. Tony Grossenburg will officiate and burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon with full military honors afforded by the Brattvet-Green American Legion Post #66. A memorial has been established. MYRON WILLIAM WHITE was born July 1, 1923 at Bison, SD to Dean Piersol and Lena (Bruhn) White. He graduated from Bison High School and then attended Rapid City Business College. Myron was inducted into the U.S. Army on 9 March 1943 and served during WWII in Ardennes, Rhineland, and Central Europe with the HQ 75th Infantry Division where he earned a Bronze Star. Due to injuries received in the line of duty, he was honorably discharged on 16 March 1946. Myron moved to Lemmon and began working at the First National Bank. Working upstairs in the telephone office was Rita Ann DeWitt, a beautiful young woman that caught the attention of Myron. They were united in marriage on August 17, 1947 in Lemmon. Myron worked for Frank Butler in his insurance business. Myron then started his own accounting business which he operated until selling it in 1984. He agreed to work for Kohlman Bierschbach & Anderson for two years and ended up working staying for over 20 years. Myron was a mentor and provided guidance to many. Whether visiting with clients, employees, or friends, his professionalism, loyalty and passion for helping others was evident. Myron also clerked auction sales at Lemmon Livestock, Home Base Auction in Bowman and for Penfield Auctions. For many years, he was an active in many professional organizations including the South Dakota Public Accounting Society where he served as President for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, served as Mayor of Lemmon for two terms, Lemmon Area Charitable Economic Development Board, and was on the Brattvet-Green American Legion Post Honor Guard. When Rita’s health began to fail, he was a fulltime caretaker for his wife. He was a very dedicated husband, a supportive father, who adored his grand and great grandchildren. He had a terrific sense of humor and loved teasing, especially his grandchildren. A highlight in his life was when he traveled to Washington D.C. to attend the dedication of the WWII Memorial. He was an avid reader and loved working crossword puzzles. He loved to garden and doing yardwork. Myron passed from this life on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 in Rapid City, SD. Keeping him in their fondest memories are his three sons, Charles White of Rapid City, SD, Brian White of Clearfield, UT and Myron G. White (Donna) of Summerset, SD; one daughter, Pamela Ploog (Barry) of Spearfish, SD; ten grandchildren, Justin, Amanda, Elissa, Talia, Garick, Aaron, Sherry, Kristie, Brandon, and Nathan; and twelve great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Rita on December 31, 2011, 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, Gary White and Keith and Janice White, and a brother, Wayne White.
