She passed from this life at Fairmont, Neb., after a lingering illness on December 27, 1942. She had reached the age of 73 years, 4 months and 6 days. Avery, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Avery was born in Sheffield, O., August 21, 1869. She passed from this life at Fairmont, Neb., after a lingering illness on December 27, 1942. She had reached the age of 73 years, 4 months and 6 days. She grew to young womanhood in Ohio and came first to Fairmont in 1890 and taught school. When the school year was over, she returned to Ohio for ten months, then came back to Fairmont, and taught for one more term. she was united in marriage to Frank A . Martin of Fairmont, April 14, 1892. Four children were born to this union, three of whom survive. One son, Morris, died at the age of three years. Those who survive are one son, Albert, of Fairmont, and two daughters, Mrs. Olive Schoch of Grafton and Mrs. Lillian Dedan of Panama. In addition to her husband and children, two sisters also survive, Mrs. Mary Shafer of Geneva, O., and Mrs. John Austin of Ashtabula, O. Five grandchildren, one of whom is in the armed services, and many other relatives and friends also mourn her death. Being of a sociable and friendly nature and interested in the life and welfare of the community, she was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was also a member of the Sunset Club, the Happy Hour Project Club and the Blue Aid Society. It was always a great pleasure for her to attend and take part in these activities. She joined the Fairmont Methodist Church the year she married and has held continuous membership in the same church for fifty years. Surrounded by their children and their families, she and her husband celebrated fifty years of happy wedded life April 14, 1942. A host of friends cam to congratulate them and to extend their best wishes. Having lived in or near Fairmont all of their wedded life, they won the friendship and respect of the entire community. They planted their life here in the early days and experienced the joys and sorrows of life with life-long friends and neighbors. They have seen prosperous times and hard times. With few others of such long time residence, they have witnessed and been a part of the development of the community. She was a devoted wife and a kind and loving mother. She will be missed by loved ones and friends old and new. funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock in the home of her son, Albert Martin and at 2:30 at the Fairmont Methodist Church. Rev. R. W. Sandsted officiated. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Oliver Moul, Mrs. A. P. Stewart, Mrs. R. W. Sandsted and Sid Atwood Jr. Mrs. A. A. Ashby was organist. The pallbearers were Harry Perkins, J. W. Drummond, Charles Moore, John Bettger, Sid Atwood and M. T. Norris.
