Schoch was born on September 24, 1908 on a farm near Fairmont to Frank Albert Martin and Myrtie I. Avery Martin. She passed away on November 16, 2000 at the Village Manor in Lincoln at the age of 92 years, 1 month and 22 days. She was one of four children in the family. She was raised on the family farm and began school at District No. 15 at the age of five. The family moved to a home south of the overpass when she was in eighth grade, and she graduated from Fairmont High School with the Class of 1925. She was sixteen at the time of graduation, and had to wait until her seventeenth birthday to begin teaching school She did housework in various homes and at a store in town until she could begin teaching in the fall of 1926. She was married to Harry Ralph Schoch on July 31, 1927, at her parents home in Fairmont. They had met at play practice in high school. Ralph had moved to Fairmont from Lushton to finish his senior year. They lived in Fairmont while Ralph was working at an implement store. Two children were born to this marriage, son, Wayne in 1931 and daughter Maxine in 1934. In 1929, they moved to a farm in York county and later moved to a farm one mile north of Fairmont in 1938. In 1941, they moved to a farm south of Grafton. They had a farm sale in 1958 and after that they helped run a summer resort for Martin Quinn (Ralph's cousin). Then in the fall, they returned to Lincoln where Ralph got a license to sell funds. In October of 1958, they rented an apartment in York, where Ralph sold investment funds. In 1961 they purchased a home in Fairmont, and Ralph began selling seed corn and hail insurance. Olive was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Myrtie Martin; by brother, Maurice, who died at age three; brother, Albert; and by a sister, Lillian; and by her husband Ralph who died in 1994. She is survived by her son, Wayne and his wife Ruth of Rogers, Ark. and by her daughter, Maxine Laschanzky of Lincoln, eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 20, with Rev. Betsy Galloway-Carew officiating. Nancy Jo Galusha accompanied Greg Rehm, who sang "In the Garden" and "Just a Closer Walk with Thee." Interment was in the Fairmont Public Cemetery.
