Description	:	Mrs. Myrtle G. Hammer. age 43, wife of Capt. Murray C Hammer of Central Fire Station was instantly killed at the Iowa River Bridge two miles west of Tama on the Lincoln Highway. Mrs. Hammer was a native of this city and lived here practically all of her life. She was the daughter of George E. Gardner. She is survived by her husband Murray C. Hammer and a son Lee Hammer; the aged mother, Mrs. Addie Essen, of this city; four sisters, Mrs. Fred Belfry, Mrs. William Wolken, Mrs. George Tanyer and Mrs. Corwin Williams of this city; and a half-sister, Miss Marie Essen also of this city; and five half-brothers, Claude Essen of Cresco; Henry and Bert Essen, City; and Jacob and Carl Essen, Rockford Ill, also survive. The funeral will be held at the Belfry home, 706 East State Street at 2:30 Wed. The services for Mrs. Hammer was conducted at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Belfy, 706 East State street at 2:30 Tuesday, Rev. W. C. Cleworth preached the sermon and burial at the Riverside Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa. The pall bearers were C. C. Pigman, W.W. Duncan, Clyde Huff, Fred Kollin, M.A. Starns and O.E. Tuttle. The flowers were cared for by Misses Velma Gregson, Dorothy Elliott and Frances Hunt.
