Myrtle was born on March 28, 1925, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Edrie (Scott) Hill. She attended the Waverly School System and on January 30, 1943, she was united in marriage to John F. Myrtle was born on March 28, 1925, in Sumner, Iowa, the daughter of Earl and Edrie (Scott) Hill. She attended the Waverly School System and on January 30, 1943, she was united in marriage to John F. Moeller in Unionville, Missouri. The marriage was later blessed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sumner. The couple made their home in Waterloo, and then moved to Waverly in 1944. Myrtle had a day care in her home in Waverly until she retired in 1996. John died on November 6, 1996, and Myrtle remained in her home until becoming a resident of the Shell Rock Health Care Center in 2010. Myrtle was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. She truly loved being around children, and during her spare time enjoyed cooking and reading. She always had a book nearby. What gave Myrtle the most joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Myrtle is survived by two daughters, Judy (Jim) Luchtenburg of Waverly, Iowa, and Collene (Kent) Vriezelaar of Sioux City, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Bonnie Moeller of Waverly; 7 grandchildren, John (Jean) Moeller, James (Andrea) Moeller, Dana (Darin) Hollenbeck, Amy Luchtenburg, Stacy (Adam) Johnson, Nathan (Mary) Vriezelaar, Todd (Krystal) Vriezelaar, 24 great-grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Norma Briner of Waverly, Shirley (Harlo) McKintry of Apache Junction, Arizona, Bonnie Kollenkark of Adel, Mary Ellen (Marton) Lee of Waverly; one brother, Leonard (Fran) Hill of Waverly; and a sister-in-law, Grace Buhr of Oelwein. Myrtle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John F. Moeller; her son, John E. Moeller on June 22, 2014; 3 sisters, Wanetta Lillibridge, Helen Thompson, and Pauline Mary Hill. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 22, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly, with Fr. David Schatz presiding. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Public Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 21st from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and also for an hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
