Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Sept. 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wessington Springs with Fr. Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial was in St. Placidus Cemetery, rural Gann Valley. Read More	Myrtle Jean Etbauer, 86, of rural Gann Valley, S.D., died Monday morning, Sept. 4, 2006, at Weskota Manor/Avera Health in Wessington Springs. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Sept. 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wessington Springs with Fr. Jim Friedrich officiating. Burial was in St. Placidus Cemetery, rural Gann Valley. Myrtle was born on May 4, 1920 on the Stroud place three miles south of Gann Valley to Charles D. and Ada (Berge) Trainer. She lived all her life around Gann Valley. She attended school at Gann Valley, graduating in 1938. She belonged to the Girl Scouts and played drums in the band. After graduation, she worked for families around Gann Valley. It was while working at the Lambert Knippling home that she met her future husband, Eugene. On May 3, 1939 Myrtle was united in marriage to Eugene Etbauer at the Immaculate Conception Church at Stephan, S.D. They lived with Eugene's folks until the completion of the basement of their home, which was located one mile south of this parents. Myrtle was an excellent cook. She enjoyed the garden and did much canning. She had many flowers round the house. She also enjoyed doing crafts, mostly counted cross stitch and plastic canvas stitchery. She was a member of St. Placidus Catholic Church and also the Ladies Altar Society for many years. Myrtle is survived by her son Bill of Gann Valley; her daughter Leona (Ron) Poppenga of Sioux Falls; one granddaughter Brenda (Fred) Klocko; and a great-grandson, Cassen Eugene Klocko, all of Larchwood, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene on July 30, 2003; two brothers; one sister; an infant son; a grandson; and a daughter-in-law. The Miller Press 9/12/2006
