Born in Robeson County, NC, on July 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Avener Locklear and Bessie Lee Maynor. She retired from Golf Pride , was a member of the McColl Church of God and the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. Mrs. Myrtle will be remembered for her loving and caring ways. Born in Robeson County, NC, on July 7, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John Avener Locklear and Bessie Lee Maynor. She retired from Golf Pride , was a member of the McColl Church of God and the Sanctuary Sunday School Class. Mrs. Myrtle will be remembered for her loving and caring ways. She was married to the late Alex Locklear. She enjoyed arts & crafts and loved preparing meals for her family. She is survived by sons, Billy (Linda) Locklear of Chester, VA, Eugene “Buddy” Locklear of McColl and Craig Locklear of McColl; daughters, Mildred L. Reppert of McColl, Margaret L. Brigman of Laurinburg, NC and Carolyn L. Taylor of McColl; brothers, John Frank (Janice) Locklear of New Brunswick, NJ and Tracey (Roberta) Locklear of Raeford ,NC; sisters, Elizabeth Garner of Fayetteville, NC, Bobbie Carr (Dr. Dawson Carr) of West End, NC, May (Hans) Knaevelsrud of Washington State and Sara Frances Palmer of Marrietta, GA; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great- grandchildren; also 4 great nieces & nephews that called her “Granny Mert.” Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the McColl Church of God with burial following in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Laurinburg, NC. The Rev. Dr. Roy Puckett will officiate. Family visitation will held from 6-8P.M. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the McColl Church of God. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Scotland County, PO Box 1033, Laurinburg, NC 28353; or to the Haitian Children’s Fund, c/o the McColl Church of God, PO Box 137, McColl,SC 29570.
