Read More	Obituary for Myrtle Wood Smith published in the Lethbridge Herald on Monday, January 7, 1991. MYRTLE WOOD SMITH, passed away at the Grandview Nursing Home, Cardston, on Saturday, January 5, 1991, at the age of 88 years. Myrtle was born February 28, 1902 in Cardston to Edward James and Mary Ann Wood. She spent her early years in Cardston, receiving her education here. In 1925, she and Archie Thomas Smith were married in the Salt Lake Temple. To this union, seven children were born. Life on the farm al Hill Spring was hard at times, but with her love of the outdoors, she enjoyed it all. Her talents as a wonderful cook and homemaker became almost legendary in the area. Her baby quilts have comforted many a newborn, and her tatted lace handkerchiefs have wiped many a tear. Her hands were never idle. For the past five years or so, she has been a patient in the Grandview Nursing Home. She is survived by five children: Bryan (Joyce), Mary Ann (Nan) Olsen, LaMont (Monty) Nola), Shirley Pugmire (Daryl), and Carlos (Audrey); 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Olive Nielsen (Glenn); and two brothers, Forest and Vi Wood. She was predeceased by her husband, Archie, in October of 1989; two sons, Dale and Archie (infant), one grandson; her father and mother in 1956 and 1962; two brothers: Glen in 1933, Dale in 1990; and two sisters: Ivy in infancy, and Fern Smith in December 1990. She will be missed. The Funeral Service will be held in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Hill Spring, Alberta on Tuesday, January 8th, 1991 at 1:00 P.M. with Bishop Myron Peterson Officiating. Friends may meet the family at the church from 11:45 A.M. to 12:45 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Hill Spring Cemetery. SALMON FUNERAL HOME, Cardston, Assisting the Family.
