Description	:	Nadean Yvonne (Jones) Probasco was born January 28, 1921, the second of five children born to Harry and Neva (Fouts) Jones. Nadean was raised on a farm southeast of Dunlap and attended country school. She excelled in school, graduated from Dunlap High School in 1937, and attended Buena Vista College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught country school near Moorhead for six months before contracting tuberculosis. Nadean and her mother went for medical treatment at Oakdale Sanitarium for over a year before returning home. Read More	Nadean Yvonne (Jones) Probasco was born January 28, 1921, the second of five children born to Harry and Neva (Fouts) Jones. Nadean was raised on a farm southeast of Dunlap and attended country school. She excelled in school, graduated from Dunlap High School in 1937, and attended Buena Vista College where she earned her teaching certificate. She taught country school near Moorhead for six months before contracting tuberculosis. Nadean and her mother went for medical treatment at Oakdale Sanitarium for over a year before returning home. Nadean married Robert Probasco on October 16, 1941. They bought a farm east of Dunlap in 1953 where they farmed many years and raised two sons. Nadean was the mother of three children, two surviving to adulthood, Leon and Tom. Karla Joyce died shortly after birth. Nadean moved to town in 1978, where she lived the rest of her life. Nadean was a lifelong devoted member of the Reorganized Latter Day Saints Church, where she taught Sunday school, served as leader of the church youth group and women's department, and attended many church reunion camps. Nadean always took her church responsibilities seriously, and carefully prepared her lesson plans. She played the piano and enjoyed inspirational music, especially church hymns. Nadean studied the scriptures and had a strong faith in God that sustained her throughout her life. Nadean was active as leader of her sons' 4-H club, where she encouraged members to prepare and practice their presentations for 4-H events which resulted in many ribbons. She was a good neighbor who enjoyed cooking meals with other farmwives for the neighbor men when they worked together. In her later years, Nadean took business courses and worked at J.C. Penny's in Denison. She was active in Parents without Partners, took bus tours with friends, and enjoyed visiting her sons and grandchildren in Kansas City. Nadean enjoyed family gatherings, and she took special interest in her nephews and nieces. In the last few years, due to declining health, she lived at the care center, but she always enjoyed the visits of relatives and friends. Nadean passed away peacefully on September 25, 2006, at the age of 85 years, seven months, and 28 days at the Dunlap Care Center. Nadean was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Karla; and sister, Pauline Wilkins. She is survived by her two sons, Leon and his wife Kris (Jochims) of Liberty, Missouri, Tom and his wife Kathy (Zic) of Kansas City, Missouri; brother, Wayne Jones and his wife Regina of Logan, Iowa; two sisters, Wanda Weber of Dow City, Iowa, Pat and her husband Bill Vanderford of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Milfred Wilkins of Dunlap, Iowa; grandchildren, Laura, Leah, Sara, and Roberto Mateo; nephews, nieces; and many other relatives and friends. Nadean will be remembered as a good, loving sister, teacher, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. While we are sad about her passing we feel blessed by her life, and we take comfort in the knowledge that she is at peace with the Lord.
