Read More	************************ Published July 7, 2008 - Chanute, KS Nadine Westmeyer, age 89, passed away on June 30, 2008, in Chanute, KS. She was born in Paola, Kansas, to She grew up in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. She received her degree in English from Dodge City Junior College. She was the wife of Herman Westmeyer for 66 years. He survives. She had worked at Carter's Drug Store. During World War II she helped build B-29 bombers at the Boeing factory in Wichita. After the war, she moved to Dodge City, KS., she then moved to Manhattan, KS. when Herman took a faculty position at Kansas State University. While in Manhattan, she was an active faculty wife and busy mother, raising Mel, Rex and their dog Max. In 1972 she moved to Chanute when KSU transferred Herman to the Area Extension Office. In Chanute, she remained socially active at the Chanute Country Club, taking up golf late in life. She always enjoyed learning new things as a member of the Modern Study Club. She had a lifelong passion for playing bridge, and she could always be found at any number of the bridge groups she belonged to. She and Herman enjoyed the comraderie and adventure of senior bus trips, and participated in many throughout the United States. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Delmar Lee and Nellie Fowler; her sister Lorene; and her brothers Louis and Delmar. Memorial services will be held July 3, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church, Chanute, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to "Zion Lutheran Church" or to the "Westmeyer Endowment Fund" of Farmington, MO.
