Description	:	Nana Channer, 83, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Friday, July 17, 2020, at Bryan LGH West Campus, Lincoln, Nebraska. A private family service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael Klatt officiating. The funeral service will be broadcast live on Gass Haney Facebook Page beginning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Public visitation will be on Tuesday, July 21, from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, at Gass Haney Funeral Home in Columbus. Everyone is asked to follow current CDC guidelines while attending the visitation. Nana Nell Channer was born January 1, 1932, in Boone County, Nebraska, (near St. Edward) to Roy and Esther (Olson) Cumming. The doctor that delivered her arrived in a horse drawn buggy because of the snow storm that day. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church, in Platte County, Nebraska. Nana attended Boone County School District #47 and graduated from St. Edward High School. The home that she grew up in had no plumbing or electricity until she was in high school. Nana attended Wahoo College for one year and earned her teaching certificate. On July 1, 1956, Nana was united in marriage to Carroll Channer at Salem Lutheran Church. Nana enjoyed baking, and as a youth, would make Angel Food cakes, and sell them to help earn a living. She continued her baking and was known for her “monster cookies”. She was very proud of her boys and believed that the saying “stop and smell the roses” referred to spending time with your children and grandchildren. Nana was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, and offered babysitting to mothers who attending “MOPS”. Nana is survived by: Husband – Carroll Channer of Columbus, NE Son – Dan (Marla) Channer of Cedar Falls, IA Son – Tim Channer of Lincoln, NE Son – Paul (Beverly) Channer of Columbus, NE Son – Scott (Katrina) Channer of Bellwood, NE Four Grandchildren Four Great Grandchildren Nana was preceded in death by: Parents – Roy & Esther Cumming --------------------- Service Folder Information The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
