In her early years she with her parents moved to Indiana where she met Wesley Wood, whom she afterwards married on Nov 9, 1856; they moved to Iowa and settled on a farm east of Monroe. She lived happily with her husband for sixty-two years until on June 5, 1915 he preceded her to the great beyond. She was the mother of twelve children, eleven of whom grew to manhood and womanhood under her tender care and guidance. Soon after coming to Iowa she and her husband united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Tools Chapel on the Reasnor Charge. Her life has ever since been daily a quite demonstration of her implicit faith and trust in Almighty God. As a wife she was always faithful and kind; as a mother ever loving and tender; as a neighbor and friend never to busy or hurried to lend a helping hand or give a few words of sympathy. She leaves to mourn her departure two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wood of Angus, and Mrs. Amanda Groves, North Platt, Nebraska, also ten children, Eli, Reece, John, Edmund, Mrs. C.A.Tool, Mrs. J.W. Birkenbosch, Mrs. J.H. Tool, all living in or near Monroe, Iowa, Mrs. J.W. Porter, Des Moines, Mrs. Rena Reece, Bondurant, Iowa, and Mrs. Isaac Reece of Spokane, Washington. The funeral services were held from the Tools Chapel Church, on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock, April 27, with the pastor, J.A. Moorman in charge. Six of the grandsons were the acting pall-bearers, and the body was laid to rest in the Lust Cemetery, to await the final resurrection.
