Mrs. Nancy Hammitt, daughter of Adam and Christena Zehrung, was born in Morrow Co., Ohio, February 17, 1837, and at the time of her death was 64 yrs. 4 mos. and 5 days old. She came with her parents to Iowa in the spring of '53, and at Toledo, Ia. Was married to Mr. Hugh Hammitt on December 17, 1854. She leaves a husband, and two children, L.H. Read More	DIED—Mrs. Nancy Hammitt, Saturday, July 12, 1902, after a long illness of complicated diseases. Mrs. Nancy Hammitt, daughter of Adam and Christena Zehrung, was born in Morrow Co., Ohio, February 17, 1837, and at the time of her death was 64 yrs. 4 mos. and 5 days old. She came with her parents to Iowa in the spring of '53, and at Toledo, Ia. Was married to Mr. Hugh Hammitt on December 17, 1854. She leaves a husband, and two children, L.H. Hammitt of Minneapolis and Mrs. Frank Laraway of Spencer, Iowa. Her son Frank Hammitt having died February 27, 1900. Seven grand children, a host of friends and neighbors to mourn her untimely death. Mrs. Hammitt became a member of the Methodist church in 1856, living a faithful Christian life. She with her husband took fellowship with the members of the Church of Christ, at Spencer some four years ago. At the hour of her death she was surrounded with all the members of her family that could be here. Her last moments came as a relief, and her faith was unfaltering. Her dying words were those of a faithful soul, and are of much comfort to her sorely afflicted husband; between whom the ties that bind were never stronger: "If I can have rest, I am so tired; all is well." Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in the Christian church, conducted by Rev. A.L. Shoop. The choir sang beautifully; and the words of Rev. Shoop were a solace to the heart rendered relatives. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers. After the ceremony the remains were conducted to the cemetery south of town where they were laid to rest in the family lot.
