Thomas Rogers was at the organ. Pall bearers were George Texter, Dwight Williams, Paul Kinnick, Roy Graves, Blinn Smith and John Miller. Nancy Barbara Miles was born September 18, 1852, at Logansport, Indiana. She came to Iowa about 1875 settling first in Lake City and later at Coon Rapids. She married George D. Scott October 7, 1877, and to this union were born eight children. Mr. Scott and five of their children preceded her in death: Mr. Scott in 1922, Zena Arvllla in 1882, Peter Miles in 1882, Ocie in 1887, Mildred Athelia in 1892, and Eva Beatrice in 1918. She united with the local Presbyterian church and attended there until( its passing. Since then she has attended the Christian church and later the Free Methodist. Surviving are three sons, Jesse of Coon Rapids, Alpha of Mason City, and William of Denison, eight grandchildren, three greatgrandchildren. She has made her home with the Jesse Scott family for the past 18 years. She first suffered a stroke in 1936 and, frequently recurrent ons until the time of her death at 3:15 a. m. January 27, 1940. She was well known in the community as a pioneer settler, a woman of great patience and a faithful church member. Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Alpha Scott of Mason City; William Scott of Denison; Ray, Roy and Kate Hippie and Charles Miles of Lake City; Mrs. Hess of Bagley; Mrs. Van Woodruff of Waverly and Mrs. Viola Murphy and son of Sumner.
