Description	:	When Nancy Cordelia Newman was born on May 14, 1880, in Jefferson County, Tennessee, her father, John Luther Newman, was about 25 and her mother, Sarah "Sallie" Jane Shuping, was about 26. She had 8 siblings. She married John Wesley Brooks about 1889. They had nine children during their marriage. She died on July 13, 1953, in Hagerstown, Indiana, at the age of 73, and was buried there. Courier Times, New Castle, Henry Co., IN - July 14, 1953 Mrs. Nancy Brooks Of Hagerstown Dies; at 83 Hagerstown (Spl) - Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Hagerstown Nazarene Church for Mrs. Nancy Cordelia Brooks, 83. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the L. S. Gray Funeral Home in Hagerstown. Mrs. Brooks died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Daisy Seward of Hagerstown. Other survivors are two daughters: Mrs. Gertrude Stenzle of Hagerstown and Mrs. Annabelle Davis; fours sons: Burton, Burford, John and Ernest all of Hagerstown; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
