NANCY RUSSELL THOMAS WHO CAME TO WASHINGTON IN 1852 IS DEAD Mrs. Nancy Russell Thomas died at the family residence on Pacific Avenue, near the city limits, aged 70 years. She was born in Ashland County, Ohio September 15, 1832, and removed to Washington Territory with her parents in 1852. On the 5th of February 1854, she was married to John M. Thomas at Alki Point, King County, now known as West Seattle, being the first white woman married at that place. She was the mother of ten children. For many years the family resided at Thomas' crossing on White River. She is survived by her husband, and the following married children MRS. FRANKIE CONGER of Tacoma; CHARLES THOMAS of Ironton Oregon; MRS. LIZZIE BYRD of Tacoma; MRS. HATTIE BENNETT of Berkley California; MRS. MATTIE TUTTLE of Oceola Wash; SAMUEL THOMAS of Tacoma; MISS JOSIE THOMAS of Tacoma who has so faithfully cared for her mother through her months of suffering. The youngest daughter, Mrs. Mary Nelsen, and a son JOHN H. THOMAS the youngest of the family live at Enumclaw, where the remains will be buried as requested by Mrs. Thomas, and only sister Mrs. Crowe, lives at Auburn Washington.
