She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, where she was baptized and confirmed on May 24, 1956. Then on May 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harold James Gade at St. Paul's. Nancy was born on September 5, 1936, in Waverly, Iowa. She graduated from the Waverly High School. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, where she was baptized and confirmed on May 24, 1956. Then on May 27, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harold James Gade at St. Paul's. The couple made their home in Waverly. Nancy worked at Harrison's Five and Dime, the Tiny Inn and the Corner Market. For the last 40 years, Nancy enjoyed selling Avon. While with Avon, she enjoyed visiting with her customers and some of them becoming lifelong friends. Nancy's love of cats and her flowers were lifelong passions. Nancy is survived by her son, Evan (Freida) Gade of Lane, Kansas; one step grandson, John Collier of Springfield, Missouri; three brothers, Bernard M. Rohde of Fayette, Iowa; Joseph E. (Rachel) Rohde of Fayette, Iowa; Donald R. (Wendy) Rohde of Marion, Iowa; two sisters, Catherine M. (Don) Langel of Kirksville, Missouri; and Constance M. (Roger) Halvorson of Marquette, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Roberta Anderson of Plymouth, Iowa; Sandra Rohde of Farmersburg, Iowa and Bernice Gade of Waverly, Iowa and a brother-in-law, Richard Benschoter of Waverly, Iowa. Nancy was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred (Betsinger) Rohde, her parents, Oron and Dorothy (Betsinger) Chestnut, her husband, Harold in 2012; two brothers, John C. Rohde and James L. Rohde; two sisters-in-law, Norma Rohde and Marlys Benschoter, and brother-in-law, Wayland Gade. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, with Pastor Joyce Sandberg officiating. Burial will be in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or to the American Lung Association.
