Description	:	We oft times wonder how our ancestors met and married. In earlier times communities were very close knit compared to present day. In 1860 Nancy Hall is living and working as a domestic for S.R. Tuthill in his hotel. Also working there is George Tuthill, probably a nephew. Sometime after this census Nancy Hall and George Tuthill married. George was killed while serving in the Civil War. In 1857 Reuben Cash had married Ellen Alverson in Newburgh, New York. In 1857 Reuben Cash had married Ellen Alverson in Newburgh, New York. Ellen Cash died in 1869 nine days after giving birth leaving behind three small children. In 1870 Nancy Hall Tuttle/Tuthill marries Reuben Cash. Nancy Hall and Reuben Cash married 21 Apr 1870 in Cold Spring, Putnam, New York by Rev F. P. Williams according to the Cash family bible. From the Niobrara Tribune Thursday, February 22, 1923: Mrs. Nancy Cash is still in a very low condition and is unconscious with no hope of recovery. OBITUARY: Niobrara Tribune Thursday, March 1, 1923: "The death of Mrs. Nancy Cash occurred Tuesday morning, after an illness of several weeks, and the funeral was held this morning at the Episcopal Church, Rev. Jos E Ellis officiating. Deceased came to this township with her husband and family from New York, in 1879, locating on a homestead south of Niobrara. They have resided in town for about thirty years. Mrs. Cash was religiously devoted to her home and family. Obituary will be published next week." OBITUARY: Niobrara Tribune Thursday, March 8, 1923: "AN OLD FASHIONED MOTHER DIES. There died last week in Niobrara an old-fashioned mother. Little you or I saw of her. Society did not know her. But her reflection shown out in the sobriety and well-being of her children. Isolated as she chose to be, yet she ruled the home with kindness and judgement, beloved by all, living alone for her family, and as a neighbor of the pioneer days, one whose sympathy went out in hours of sickness or misfortune and her hospitality was well known to them. Always loyal to her old home in New York, she seemed not to fit in the west. Yet she never complained, and her optimistic nature was an uplift to all who knew her. Her home was a place of cheer and her homely philosophy a wonderful character builder. Nancy Hall Cash was born in Ulster County, New York, January 26, 1844, and died at Niobrara February 27, 1923. She was married to Reuben Cash April 21, 1870, and in 1879, after reading the Niobrara Pioneer and other literature sent east at that time, they became interested in the west and moved to Niobrara in September of that year. All the children but Mrs. Gadow of Lancaster, California, were here during her last illness. Her husband died in 1915. Son William, who was postmaster here, died in 1909. Funeral services were held in St Paul's Episcopal Church Thursday morning last. Rev. Joseph E. Ellis officiating, and interment was made in L'Eau Qui Court cemetery." Card of Thanks. Everyone who in any way helped us during those trying days we will hold in grateful remembrance.
