Adams was born in Bourbon county, Kansas, November 8, 1865, and passed away at her home in Howard, Kansas, April 2, 1937, at the age of 71 years, 4 months and 21 days. She was married to John Edwin Murphy on July 24, 1887. To this union was born eight children; two passing away in infancy. Those living are: Harrison Murphy and Mrs. D. L. Anderson of Longton, Kansas, Mrs. W. V. Riggs and Mrs. D. H. Hastings, Howard, Kansas, Johnnie Murphy of Elk Falls, Kansas. One daughter, Mrs. G. M. Heater, prreceded her in death ten years ago, the 27th of this month. She also has been a loving mother to two step children, Fred Murphy of Stockton, Kansas, and Viola Montony living at Alburquerque, New Mexico, and a niece's daughter, Edith Hamilton, having taken her to raise at the age of three years, and who is still at home. She leaves 34 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, also three sisters and two brothers, her twin sister, Mrs. G. W. Muprhy of Neosho, Missouri, Mrs. Ed Studyvin, Girard, Kansas, and Mrs. Wiley Watson, address is unknown, her brothers, Arthur and James Adams of California. She united with the Church of Christ at Fiat twenty some years ago and was a faithful member there until a few years later when she, her husband and three youngest children moved to a farm east of Longton. There being no church in the community they were disontented until they had worked and established a congregation down there which is still active in the work of the Lord. Her home was the preacher's home. Her greatest pleasure was doing the Lord's commands and living for her children. Funeral services were conducted at the Howard Christian Church, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by C.C, Cunningham of the Church of Christ assisted by E. B. King, of the Christian Church. Moon Funeral Home in charge. Burial in Grace Lawn cemetery, Howard.
