Read More	Nancy Jane Stevens was born on July 26,1856, near Commerce, Iowa and passed away at her home in Waukee, Iowa, May 25,1932 after an illness of several weeks. At the time of her death, she was 75 years, 9 months and 29 days old. She lived with her parents near Commerce during the early years of her life. She passed those happy golden years of childhood there; it was in this vicinity that she grew into girlhood and maturity. In this community she was reared, educated, and here she formed those early friendships which have not dimmed with the passing of years. Although the life of a pioneer girl was not easy yet it seemed to develop in her those traits of character which were destined to make her a good wife, a loving mother and a true friend. Early in life she united with the Methodist church near her home. On April 15,1875, she became the bride of Lemuel T. Womacks, at Guthrie Center, Iowa. To this union were born 5 children, all of whom survive their mother except one daughter who died in infancy. Her living children are C.C. Womacks of Rockwell City, Iowa; Robert V.H. Womacks and H. A. Womacks and a daughter, Mrs. Minnie M. Briggs of Waukee, Iowa. Mrs. and Mrs. Womacks moved to what is known today as the John Hunter home, in 1880. This was their home for 21 years. In 1901 they moved to Waukee, where they lived ever since. Mrs. Womacks was a pioneer of both Polk and Dallas counties. Mr. Womacks, a Civil War veteran, preceded his wife in death November 8,1919. Mrs. Womacks became a member of Effie Butcher Rebekah lodge No. 167, January 19,1927. She loved the Order, its teachings and its principles. She was an active member up to the time of her death. Mrs. Womacks was a kind and devoted mother. Her supreme interest in life was in her home. She loved her children deeply and they reciprocated in kind. She was the truest of friends, and the best of neighbors. Her passing will not only leave a vacant chair in the Womacks home but it will also leave a lonely spot in the hearts of her friends. She leaves to mourn her death, besides her children, 12 grandchildren, 7 great granchildren, two nieces, Mrs. Viola Lauritsen, of Audubon, Iowa, and Mrs. Belle Montgomery of Fairview, Okla.
