Description	:	Nancy L. Hinen, 79, of Columbia City, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Tuesday. She was born June 16, 1938 in Huntington County, Indiana a daughter of Paul and Delores (Amick) Hollenbaugh. Her formative years were spent in Jefferson Township, Whitley County. Hinen, 79, of Columbia City, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne where she was admitted on Tuesday. She was born June 16, 1938 in Huntington County, Indiana a daughter of Paul and Delores (Amick) Hollenbaugh. Her formative years were spent in Jefferson Township, Whitley County. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School in 1956 and St. Joe Hospital School of Nursing. On July 18, 1959 she married Clarence Eugene "Blondie" Hinen. They made their home in Germany for a year until his discharge from the U.S. Army. They made their home in Jefferson Township. Mr. Hinen died December 4, 2014. Nancy was a registered nurse and worked at Whitley County Memorial Hospital from 1955 until 1967 then she worked in the OB department at St. Joe Hospital. In the 1990s she began working for Hospice of Northeast Indiana. She retired in 2000. Her memberships include St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, St. Joe Alumni Association and Research Team for Women's Cardiovascular with Harvard University. Surviving relatives include four children, Laura L. Hinen of Columbia City, Carla S. (Kenneth) Nickolson of Columbia City, Deanna L. Dillon of Jasper GA and Scott M. Hinen of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Nelleen LaFever of Phoenix AZ and Darleen Wright of Columbia City; and a brother, Jerry Hollenbaugh of Columbia City. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Regina Hinen. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church, 315 South Line Street, Columbia City with visitation 9 to 10 Friday. The burial will be in the Catholic Cemetery, Roanoke. The visitation will also be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with a Rosary service at 4:00 p.m.
