Description	:	Nancy Lee (Ackerman) Galusha was born to Edmond and Geniza (Albro)Ackerman. She was one of four children in the family. Nancy grew up and attended school in Fairmont, graduating in the class of 1957. After graduation, Nancy moved to York and was a telephone operator for the Lincoln Telephone Company from 1957 until 1961. She met and made many friends while living and working in York. Read More	Nancy Lee (Ackerman) Galusha was born to Edmond and Geniza (Albro)Ackerman. She was one of four children in the family. Nancy grew up and attended school in Fairmont, graduating in the class of 1957. After graduation, Nancy moved to York and was a telephone operator for the Lincoln Telephone Company from 1957 until 1961. She met and made many friends while living and working in York. Nancy married Gayle Don Galusha of Fairmont on December 2, 1961, and to them 3 children were born. Nancy worked for the Youth Rehabilitation Center in Geneva from 1984 to 2000, when her health forced her to retire. She enjoyed her 16 years working with youth as a cottage parent there. It was very hard for Nancy to leave her job. To her it was like having a second family. Nancy was known for her delicious homemade potato and macaroni salads. During her working years, she always made sure the refrigerator was full of food for her family and friends. She loved the holidays and decorating for them. She made the holidays and family gatherings in her home a very special time. She paid special attention to every detail. Nancy was also very talented with silk flower arrangements and crocheting of afghans. She loved to give her handmade creations away to special friends and family. Nancy also loved planting and tending to her flowers. She loved her birds, birdhouses, bunnies, and chickens. the chicken coop wallpaper she chose for her kitchen on the farm will not be forgotten. In her later years, Nancy could be seen going for rides in her scooter on the streets of Fairmont, sometimes with a grandson on her lap. She much loved stopping and visiting with people on those rides. She was very independent and never gave up even though she was in a wheelchair. She took care of her home and her family from her wheelchair. You might stop by for a visit and find Nancy trying to vacuum from her wheelchair. Nancy will most of all be remembered for the love, care and protection she gave her children and grandchildren. She was always concerned about everyone in her family and made many sacrifices for them. Nancy Lee is preceded in death by her husband Gayle Galusha, parents Edmond and Geniza Ackerman, mother and father-in-law Edna and Don Galusha; brother-in-law, Mike O'Brien. She is survived by her children, Tomie (Denice) Galusha and son Aidan; daughter Tricia (Charles) Chapman Jr. and their son Gunnar; Thad Galusha; sisters Nadine Ackerman, Nina (Robert)Bartu; brother Lanny Ackerman; sister-in-law, Donna O'Brien; brother-in-law Del(Jan)Galusha, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and dear friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Fairmont Community Church in Fairmont on June 14, with the Rev. Karla Sheffy officiating . Nancy Jo Galusha provided prelude and postlude music. A recording of Alan Jackson's "In the Garden" was played. Elliott Long played a violin solo, "Amazing Grace." Casket bearers were Tim Engle, Pat Kamler, Greg Ackerman, Loren Stephenson, Keith Bristol and Kelly Adams. Honorary bearers were Aidan Galusha, Gunnar Chapman, Gerry "Poodge" Reed and Julie Bristol.
