VANDEVEER Nannie May Alexander was born January 11, 1873 and departed this life February 4, 1926 at the age of 53 years, 24 days. In her early teens she moved with her father, her mother dying when she was quite young, from Atchison Co., Missouri to Dawes Co., Nebraska, here she was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to Joseph L. Vandeveer.[Oct. 24, 1894 - Chadron, Nebraska] To this union were born six children, only one child, Howard survives. Besides Howard those of her immediate family who survive are; her husband, Joseph L. Vandeveer, sisters Mrs. Jennie Roberts of Courtland, Mrs. E.E. Wilson of Morrill, Nebraska, brother, Chas Alexander of Missoula, Montana, granddaughter Lenora May, two step children, Arthur Vandeveer of Wilmington, California, Mrs. Emma Knecht of Leona, Kanas. Other near relatives present was T.L. Vandeveer of Montezuma, Kansas, C.A. Cline and wife and Harry Cline and wife of Copeland, Kansas, John Vandeveer and family of Scandia, Oscar Berggren and family of Republic Kansas and Mr. and Mrs. Portwood, Shickley, Nebraska. Her health began to fail about 5 years ago. During this...been often in great suffering during her...months she was...in constant suffering. Through it some how fell her lot to be acquainted with sorrow and suffering she never complained nor grieved. She had faith in Him who came and walked among men that he cared and believed to see that day when through Him she would be relived of her heavy load of suffering. In all her sickness and suffering her companion was constantly by her side, all that he could do he did lovingly and tenderly to make for her comfort. Through sorrow, suffering and toil we sometimes feel the darkness and night of it all but we will be consoled with these words of Paul "For now we see through a glass darkly: but then face to face" tended was held at the M.E. church Saturday afternoon in charge of Albert Haskett funeral director. Rev. Allsbury preached the sermon. Mrs. F.C. Granstedt, Miss Mildren Sherffius, F.J. Yerian and Rolland Macy, Miss Mabel Wray pianist furnished appropriate music., Paul bearers Ernest Beck, Lars Brown, John Wells, Gus Samuelson, Albert Workman and Will Reed.
