Nancy was born at Wheeling, West Virginia, on Oct. 1, 1853, daughter of Alexander M. and Mary Julia (Woods) Jacob. Her early childhood was spent in and around Wheeling. Burial was in the Ida Grove Cemetery, Ida County, Iowa. Nancy was born at Wheeling, West Virginia, on Oct. 1, 1853, daughter of Alexander M. and Mary Julia (Woods) Jacob. Her early childhood was spent in and around Wheeling. She became a member of the Episcopal Church and later affiliated with the Methodist Church, in which she retained her membership. She was married to Coleman L. Magee of St. Clairsville, OH., Feb. 17, 1875. For a few years, they lived on a farm near Wheeling, then moved to St. Clairsville. In 1882, they moved to Ida County, Iowa, and lived on a farm in Blaine Township, later moving to Silver Creek Township. Five years later, Mr. and Mrs. Magee moved to Cleveland, Tennessee, where they lived until 1899. Returhing to Ida County, she lived here until 1908, when Mrs. Magee joined her husband in Colorado, who had taken a homestead a year previous, 4 miles south and one and one-half miles west of Seibert, Colorado. They returned to Ida Grove again a few years later, when Mr. Magee died Nov. 27, 1934. Mrs. Magee is survived by 7 children, all of whom were living. They are Alexander J. of San Leandro, California; Mrs. Joe Gray of Burlington, Colorado; Mrs. Julia Johnson of Manilla, Wash.; Frank of Ida Grove; Robert of Ouray Colorado; Clarence of Burlington, Colorado, and Mrs. Oscar Heline of Marcus, Iowa. Mrs. Julia Dessel and Andrew Jacob of Ida Grove are sister and brother of Nancy Magee. There are 15 grandchilden and one great grandchild. Mrs. Magee developed her talent as a painter after she had passed the half century mark in life, and painted a number of canvases, one of which was completed in the last year of her life. Several of these paintings were hung upon the walls of the funeral home on the day when her relatives and friends paid the final token of respect to her memory. Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Magee, Burlington, CO.; Mrs. Joe Gray of Burlington, CO.; and Mrs. Oscar Heline and family of Marcus, Iowa.
