Heffelfinger, aged 78, a resident of Cherokee county for all her matuare life, died at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday morning at her home, 405 W. Maple, Columbus, following a serious illness of about three weeks. Mrs. Heffelfinger was born in Indiana March 29, 1872, the daughter of Nicholas and Sibyl Copper. She came to Kansas with her parents while quite young. They settled on the farm three miles west of Cherokee on what is now known as the John McMahan place, and her father was a regular contributor to the news columns of the Sentinel. She was married to John B. Heffelfinger in 1889 at Cherokee. He died in 1930. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Trollie Bright of Madison, Wis., and two grandsons, Garold Bright of Joplin, and Bill Bright of Madison. One daughter has preceded her in death. A brother, Ol Copper, died at McCune a couple of weeks ago, and she was unable to attend the funeral. She was the last member of the Copper family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Friday) in the Ruhland funeral home with Rev. George Jones officiating.
