Read More	Clay County FL newspaper Thursday, March 5, 1942 Mrs. Nancy Padgett Dies at Maxville Death came peacefully last Sunday morning to Mrs. Nancy Padgett near Maxville following an illness of a week. Mrs. Padgett was a young woman of 20 when the Confederacy was formed and had a brother in the War Between the States. She was 73 when World War I broke out, and had a son in that war. She died at the age of 101. A lifelong resident of Clay County, Mrs. Padgett lived with a daughter Mrs. W. B. Griffis, at the time of her death. Although blind for several years, she had remained alert, interested in politics and was a staunch supporter of President Roosevelt. At 99, she marked her ballot for Roosevelt in 1940 when election officials paid a call at her home. Survivors include a brother, William Padgett, of Jacksonville; four sisters, Mrs. Delia Altman, Mrs. Daisy Altman, Mrs. Vinia Prescott of Jacksonville and Mrs. Florence VanBuren, Savannah, Ga; and four daughters, Mrs. W. L. Ellis, Mrs. Dosha E. Trainor, both of Jacksonville, Mrs. Fannie Griffis and Mrs. W. B. Griffis, Maxville. She is also survived by fourteen grand-children. Funeral services were held Monday at 11 am at the Long Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. G. E. Cutshaw officiating. Interment was in Long Branch Cemetery, Maxville.
