April 4, 1924 Charging that the Farmers and Merchants Bank Co of Christiansburg has refused to turn over Liberty Bonds valued at $6500.00 when demand was made Nancy R Leathley filed a petition in the common pleas court Thursday asking for a order directing bank officials to surrender the securities. The plaintiff claims that she has on deposit in the Christiansburg Bank four $1000 bonds of the second issue, two $1000 bonds of the fourth issue and one $500 bond of the fourth issue. The claim is made that these bonds are being wrongfully detained by the bank although demand was made by the plaintiffs attorney. No reason is given for the alleged action of the bank. April 24, 1924 Funeral services for Mrs Nancy R Leathley, 83, were held Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Leathley died Sunday as the result of a fall in February. She is survived by her daughter Mrs Wise of Troy; a brother Price Robbins of St Paris; a sister Mrs Ellen Beaty of St Paris, a step daughter Mrs Alice Trisler of Troy and a step grandson Guy Trisler of Piqua. May 23, 1924 The May 2nd asserting that the will probated as that of Nancy Leathley was not the last will and testament of the deceased. Alta F Mott has filed suit in the common pleas court to have the will set aside. Albert Wise, Elizabeth Minnich, Susan Malsberry, Olivia Miller, Guy Trisler, Price Robbins, Ellen Beaty and WR Albaugh administrator with the will annexed of the estate are defendants in the case. The petition states that Mrs Leathley died on April 20 leaving Alberta Wise the only heir at law. The plaintiff is a legatee under a will dated July 3, 1917, the petition states but the will was not admitted to probate. The will filed in the court according to the petition was dated March 24, 1924 and was not the last will and testament
