Description	:	Naomi Stevenson, age 98, of Charles City and formerly from Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Ellis Byron and Nettie Beebe Stevenson on March 25, 1905 in Jackson Township, Butler County, near Clarksville, Iowa. She attended St. Valentine Country School, and then graduated as Salutatorian from Clarksville High School in 1923. She then attended Iowa State Teacher’s College, now UNI, for two years. Read More	Naomi Stevenson, age 98, of Charles City and formerly from Clarksville, Iowa, was born the daughter of Ellis Byron and Nettie Beebe Stevenson on March 25, 1905 in Jackson Township, Butler County, near Clarksville, Iowa. She attended St. Valentine Country School, and then graduated as Salutatorian from Clarksville High School in 1923. She then attended Iowa State Teacher’s College, now UNI, for two years. She taught school, the first year in rural Black Hawk County. Later she taught for several years each in Bristow, Shell Rock and Clarksville. Naomi worked for a many years as Librarian at the Clarksville Public Library, a position she took so that she could stay at home and take care of her parents. Naomi and her brother, Virgil, moved from Clarksville to their birthplace and lived there until he retired from farming. Then in a small camper, Naomi and her brother went to Tucson, Arizona to visit her sister and her husband and San Diego, California to visit her brother and his wife for the winter months. Later they moved to Charles City, Iowa. Naomi was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Clarksville. She was also a member of P.E.O., Chapter IT and the Order of Eastern Star - Waverly Chapter No. 358. She liked spending time in the Southwest visiting relatives. Naomi died Saturday, July 5, 2003, at the Floyd County Hospital in Charles City from natural causes. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Grant Stevenson and one sister, Thelma Ulrich. She is survived by one brother, Virgil Stevenson, Charles City, Iowa. Memorial Services are at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 9, 2003, at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, Iowa, with inurnment in Lynwood Cemetery, Clarksville, Iowa. Officiating at the service was Pastor Allen Poore-Christensen. Lola Clark was the organist and vocalists were Allan and Julie Poore-Christensen. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, Clarksville, was in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
